The Grieve Better® Method offers you the support, education, and practices required to navigate all kinds of losses.  We want you to know that you are not alone and feel and experience community support.

Grief is the natural and normal reaction to loss of any kind, and incomplete recovery from grief can have a lifelong impact on our capacity for happiness and joy. 

The Grieve Better® Method is a supportive program for moving beyond the 4 Ds; death, divorce, diagnosis, and didn’t ask for change.

Didn’t ask for change is any change you didn’t ask for, like a job change, loss of community, moves, change in finances, change in daily routine, loss of identity, loss of safety, loss of trust, loss of control, and many other losses.  It can also be your unmet hopes, dreams, and expectations for your life.

It's not really letting go of the past that is the problem. It is coming to terms with letting go of a possible future that will never be. This is the struggle. The mind wants to keep its fantasies. To let go of the past, you must also let go of the future and live in the present.

The Grieve Better® Method will help you:

Loss is not something most people prepare for, and this might leave you feeling confused and misunderstood because of the misinformation around grief and loss.

Grievers want and need to be heard, not fixed. 

Myths around loss can keep grieving people feeling misunderstood and trapped in a cycle of confusion, isolation, and stagnation.

Although there are no stages or feelings that every griever experiences, there are some common experiences of grief.

Grieve Better® provides a safe and supportive environment with like-minded people for you to look at your old beliefs about how to deal with loss and change you didn’t ask for. You’ll explore a method of uncovering and discovering which losses have impacted your life and are shaping your current life experience. With the new insight, you will be able to take new actions that will lead you to find completion with what feels unresolved.

Grieve Better® is a unique program designed by Libby Carstensen, who was inspired by her own experience with grief.

Libby created the program that she wished she had at the time of her father’s death, career loss, financial loss, and loss of identity. Grieve Better® is a trauma-informed program that incorporates the neuroscience of change, grief theory and education, somatic coaching, mindfulness, kundalini yoga, meditation for loss, and prescriptive breathwork for change.

It’s an action-based program that meets eight times and involves reading, writing, and reflection assignments, partner work within the in-person sessions. Your program also includes customized meditation, 1-1 and group coaching, daily breathwork designed to Grieve Better, somatic practices, Yoga Nidra for grief, and Grieve Better Yoga.

What is it? It is an action program for loss designed to support you as you move through grief and build resilience. Grieve Better® is a unique program designed by Libby Carstensen that incorporates the neuroscience of change, grief theory, somatic coaching, mindfulness, kundalini yoga, and prescriptive breathwork. The program is eight 3-hr sessions*.

We will be utilizing the outdoor space for movement, breathwork, and some exercises as well as the indoor space at Four Moons. Space is limited to allow for the best possible experience.

How much is it? Early bird pricing is $799 by 9/30 after that $899. Space is limited. This program will sell out. Enroll in advance to secure your spot.

What’s included in the price? Your enrollment contains 8 group in-person Grieve Better® sessions at Four Moons Spa in Encinitas, an online portal with homework materials, virtual meditation and breathwork classes twice a week during the duration of the course, one copy of The Grief Recovery Method Handbook, and a 30-minute 1-1 Grieve Better® coaching session with Libby Carstensen after session number four. 

Are payment plans available? Yes. We offer payment plans. Libby will provide details in your discovery call.

After the discovery call, you will receive payment details along with a pre-care questionnaire that you’ll complete before our first session.

How do I know if this is the right program for me? It's ok to be nervous, skeptical, or hesitant about this program.  Each participant receives a 20-minute discovery call to ensure this is the right program for you and aligned with your desired outcome. You can request your discovery call by filling out the form below.

I did your Grief Recovery Method program. Is this the same thing? No, this is not the same program. We do recommend reading the Grief Recovery Handbook because it is an incredibly valuable resource. Libby has also trained as a Grief Recovery Method Specialist and values this work immensely. Grieve Better® is a unique program that Libby designed that incorporates additional healing techniques like group work, coaching, mindfulness, breathwork, art therapy, and somatic practices along with grief education.

Can I just do one session? Good question! It’s not a drop-in group. The action program is eight different in-person group sessions leading toward Grieving Better and Living Fully. The 8-week group format meets from 6-9 PM at Four Moons Spa in Encinitas, CA. 

Can I attend this program with a partner, friend, or family member? Yes. We also encourage each of you to have your own experience. Group work is a big part of this program, and we encourage you to partner with people that are new to you.

What if I want more coaching than just the 30 minutes session after our 4th meeting? You can purchase additional Grieve Better® coaching to enhance your program.

What if I miss one of the scheduled sessions? We get it. Life happens.  Eight sessions are a commitment to your health and well-being.  Suppose you are unable to attend one of the weekly meetings of the Grieve Better Program. In that case, it is your responsibility to connect with Libby to make up the session to stay on course with the other group participants.  If you miss more than one session, You will incur an additional $50 to make up the session.

What if I already know I am going to miss one of the sessions? You will incur no fee, and you will make the appropriate arrangements ahead of time.
